Obsession (2025) Review – Careful What You Wish For

Rating: Worth a Watch (Just Be Ready to Feel Icky)

I wasn’t really prepared for Obsession.

I knew it was a horror movie, and I knew the basic idea. creepy take on the classic “be careful what you wish for” story. It is that, but it goes somewhere a lot more uncomfortable than I expected.

It left me with an icky feeling, and I’m pretty sure that’s exactly the point.

This is one of those horror movies where what you’re thinking in your own head far outweighs what they could actually show you on screen.

The standout for me was Inde Navarrette as Nikki. She absolutely destroyed this role.

Without getting into spoilers, she’s playing two different versions of Nikki, and the way she switches between them is incredible. One moment she’s one person, and the next she’s someone else entirely. And the crazy expressions she pulls off as things escalate are going to stick with me for a while. A lot of the movie’s creepiness rests on her shoulders, and she nails it.

Overall, Obsession is worth a watch. It’s well made, Inde Navarrette’s performance alone is worth the price of admission, and it does exactly what it sets out to do. Just know going in that it isn’t a fun, popcorn kind of scary. It’s the kind that stays with you after the credits roll.

Maybe have something lighthearted queued up for afterward.
